I am Professor Devin Iimoto from Whittier College and here is a little about me:
Over the years, I have taught Biochemistry, Integrated Laboratory, Introduction to Chemistry, AIDS and Other Human Diseases, and a Freshman Writing Seminar.
I have had a number of students work with me on research projects over the years. In 2004, two students and I presented our work at the American Chemical Society meeting in Anaheim (March 2004) on using a fibrinolytic enzyme from the Florida Cottonmouth Snake to remove blood stains from clothes. The project received some media attention as articles appeared in the New York Times, Whittier Daily, on line news agencies and I was interviewed by the Canadian Broadcasting Company and Florida Radio Network. More recently I presented with Joshua Smith ’11, “Quantifying fibrolase using a widely available technique: Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis,” at the ACS meeting in San Francisco.
Currently, I am a Visiting Professor at Lingnan University in Hong Kong for the spring 2011 semester. I am teaching a course on AIDS that emphasizes both the biological basis of the disease with its societal impact around the world.
While here I will also work on some writing projects and I will travel into China and other parts of Asia.
